This article is a brief overview of the differences between Amazon (AWS) Kendra and Saasuma.
In summary, Amazon Kendra is an enterprise search tool with a dose of machine learning, so comparable to an Elastic Enterprise Search product, with a dose of AI.
Similar to some other enterprise search products and Saasuma, it does include some connectors to allow third party sources to be added.
Saasuma uses an enterprise search tool (currently Elastic Search) and then adds additional layers of functionality and UI to make it more useful for most businesses and ‘real world’ scenarios.
- Non-search functionality (sharing, directories view, post to destination, etc)
- Metadata extraction (e.g. OCR, voice to text, facial recognition)
- Human input layers (e.g. relations between contacts and content, collections, etc)
Once Kendra becomes more proven we might support it as an option instead of Elastic Search in our stack.
Saasuma provides enterprise search with additional layers of human-created metadata and search indexing smarts added.
